The Federated States of Micronesia Endorses Australia’s Bid to Host COP 31
PALIKIR, Pohnpei—On November 7th, 2022, the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) announced its endorsement of Australia’s bid to host the 31st Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in partnership with the Pacific Islands.
“The FSM wholeheartedly endorses, with exceptional enthusiasm, the Government of Australia’s bid to host the 31st Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in partnership with the Pacific Islands,” His Excellency David W. Panuelo, President of the FSM, said in a statement.
“For so long, the FSM has asked for Australia to treat Climate Change seriously again—and now they genuinely, truly are. The Albanese Government has taken urgent Climate action as one of their first acts, enshrined in Australia’s commitment to reach net zero emissions into their law. Thus, as one of Australia’s allies and partners, and as a witness to Australia’s sincere intention to profile the impact of Climate Change, to accelerate global action in tackling it, and in harnessing the economic opportunities stemming from the transition to clean energy, the FSM proudly endorses and supports Australia’s efforts.”
