President Panuelo & Vice President George Receive Delegation from Yap State

PALIKIR, Pohnpei—On July 29th 2019, His Excellency David W. Panuelo—President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)—and the Honorable Yosiwo P. George, Vice President of the FSM, received the Honorable Jesse Salalu, Lieutenant Governor of the FSM State of Yap, the Honorable Vincent Figir, Speaker of the Yap State Legislature, the Honorable Jerry Fagolimul, Floor Leader of the Yap State Legislature, and the Honorable John Mafel, Senator in the Yap State Legislature, in a courtesy call. The Yap State delegation was in Pohnpei to attend the Joint National Inauguration Ceremony.

“Welcome to your office,” the President said. “The success of the Nation will largely depend on how we all work together.”

“I seek your help in every way that we can work together in keeping our Nation united,” the President continued. “This office will be open to you at any time—always feel welcome to reach to myself and Vice President George.”

The conversation broached many subjects, but with a particular focus on the implementation of public infrastructure projects, and sharing thoughts for topics of discussion at the next State & National Leadership Conference. President Panuelo suggested that he thought a handful of subjects—FSM School Accreditation and the implementation of public projects for example—would take priority.

The FSM National Government extends its warm appreciation to the FSM State of Yap for their contributions to the Joint National Inauguration Ceremony.
