Happy 41st FSM Constitution Day

PALIKIR, Pohnpei—On May 10th, 2020, the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) formally celebrated forty-one (41) years of Constitutional Self-Government and the extension of peace, friendship, cooperation, and love in our common humanity to all peoples and nations throughout the world. The FSM’s stated values of peace, unity, and liberty remain upheld through the steadfast commitment of the Nation and its States in their promotion of respect and dignity for all people. The Micronesian canoe and its 607 islands, connected by the peaceful Pacific, is prepared to endure any hardship, any challenge, and any weather, be it calm or storm, in its journey to provide for the continued sovereignty of its people.

“My fellow Micronesians,” His Excellency David W. Panuelo, ninth President of the FSM, said in a statement. “We are, each of us, strong through our diversity, resilient through our unity, and compassionate through our respect for others as well as ourselves. Though 2020 has thus far demonstrated its interest in challenging our resolve, let us celebrate 41 years of Constitutional Government as a means of showing that we will not submit to any fear or any foe, be it Climate Change or Coronavirus, and that we, as Micronesians, will rise to any and all occasions to stand up for what we believe to be right and what we believe to be true.”

“Happy 41st FSM Constitution Day, my fellow Micronesians. God bless you, and God bless the Federated States of Micronesia.”
