Special Election for Chuuk Election District #3 to be Held November 12th, 2021; Citizens Encouraged to Vote by Absentee Ballot

 

PALIKIR, Pohnpei—Following the passing of the late Honorable Derensio S. Konman, Senator representing the State of Chuuk’s Election District #3 in the 22nd FSM Congress, a vacancy in the Congress has been declared and a Special Election for the vacant seat shall be held on November 12th, 2021.

 

FSM citizens residing abroad who are eligible to vote in Chuuk’s Election District #3 are encouraged to request to vote by absentee ballot. The closing date for such a request is October 8th, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Special Polling Places in the U.S. Territory of Guam and the U.S. State of Hawaii will be closed; the President’s decree for such temporary closure may be found here: https://gov.fm/files/September_27_2021-Decree-Suspending_Special_Polling_Places_in_Guam__HNL.pdf

 

The closing date for the filing of nomination petitions is October 3rd, 2021.
