The Honorable Reed B. Oliver, Governor of Pohnpei State, paid a Courtesy Call on President Simina and Vice President Palik

PALIKIR, Pohnpei—On May 22th, 2023, His Excellency Wesley W. Simina—President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)—and the Honorable Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the FSM, received The Honorable Reed B. Oliver, Governor of Pohnpei State, who paid a courtesy call on President Simina and Vice President Palik and to welcome them to Pohnpei State, their home for the next four years and to assure them of Pohnpei State\’s support and commitment to strengthening the working relationship between his State and the National Government.   President Simina and Vice President Palik thanked the Governor for making the visit early on in their administration and expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and the continued hospitality of the people of Pohnpei. The President and Vice President informed the Governor of their plan to make their first State Visit to Pohnpei as the host of the National Government. The President also raised some urgent issues of mutual interest such as the location of the UN Micronesia House, our partnership with the Australian Government regarding maritime security – the patrol boat program and related opportunities and challenges. The leaders agreed to have a more substantive discussion during the State Visit.
