PALIKIR, Pohnpei – On Wednesday July 26th, 2023, His Excellency President Wesley W. Simina, The Honorable Vice President Aren B. Palik, The Honorable Speaker Esmond B. Moses and honorable members of the 23rd FSM Congress were inaugurated as the new national leadership of the Federated States of Micronesia.   The Joint Inauguration festivities began in the morning of Tuesday July 25th, with an Interdenominational Service held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Seinwar, Kitti followed by a Cultural Celebration at the College of Micronesia-FSM gym in the evening. Both functions featured programs that highlighted an assemblage of members of the clergy, cultural performers and civil servants from throughout the FSM, all brought together in both commendation and celebration.   At 10am of July 26th, the Joint Inauguration Ceremony, took place at its prevailing venue in front of the Congressional Chambers at the FSM Capitol in Palikir, Pohnpei State. To welcome everyone to the occasion and to Pohnpei as the hosting state of the nation’s capitol, welcoming remarks were delivered by The Honorable Governor Reed B. Oliver. The Governor touched on looking forward to the continued building of a mutually positive working relationship with the Simina-Palik administration.   In President Simina’s inaugural address and first address to the nation, he emphasized that “Unity inherently demands our careful attention and vigilance” and that “unity is our strength and prosperity”.   His Excellency recalled the Oath of Office he took when elected, and reminded the nation that “I committed myself to promote and support the unity of this country to the best of my ability. Having made that promise in the presence of God as witness, I am now sharing it with you, my fellow citizens.”   The Government of the FSM again welcomes and thanks all traditional leaders, leaders of neighboring and partnering nations, delegations & foreign dignitaries, national and state government officials and most especially its citizens for coming together to witness and celebrate this historic occasion in our nation’s history.
