PALIKIR, Pohnpei — His Excellency Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), has appointed Ms. Yolanda Joab Mori to serve as Chief of Staff. Chief of Staff Mori has been serving in the position in an acting capacity since 2024 while simultaneously serving as Special Assistant to the President for Public Relations and Information, a role she has held since 2023.
Chief of Staff Mori has served in various capacities within the National Government, including as the President’s Advocate on Climate Change and National Coordinator for Blue Prosperity Micronesia under the previous administration of President David W. Panuelo.
Beyond her government service, Chief of Staff Mori has been active in climate advocacy and youth empowerment efforts, including founding Island PRIDE Micronesia (Promoting Resilience through Involvement, Development & Education) and co-developing the Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction & Education (CADRE) program, which has supported environmental education and climate resilience initiatives across the FSM.
Originally from Awak, Pohnpei, Ms. Mori is the youngest person to serve as Chief of Staff in the Federated States of Micronesia.
“I am humbled and honored to serve our country in this capacity and to be part of an administration that puts the unity of our federation as a matter of priority policy and practice. Everything is a work in progress and there is much to be done—but the direction we are headed in as a nation gives me hope. My only ask, if ever allowed one, would be that we never give up on the FSM,” said Chief of Staff Mori.
As Chief of Staff, Ms. Mori will oversee the overall management and operations of the Office of the President, ensuring effective coordination across all departments, agencies, and offices of the Executive Branch to support the implementation of the administration’s priorities, policies, and programs.
