FSM and United Nations Signs Country Implementation Plan 2025–2027 to Advance Strategic Development Priorities

Palikir, Pohnpei — November 5, 2025 — The Department of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Country Team officially signed the FSM–UN Country Implementation Plan (CIP) 2025–2027, reaffirming their shared commitment to inclusive development, coordinated action, and regional solidarity. The signing took place at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Palikir and was attended by the Joint Steering Committee co-chairs, Secretary of Foreign Affairs T.H. Lorin S. Robert and UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Mamadou Kane, along with representatives from key FSM departments and the UN office in Micronesia. The event marked a significant milestone in FSM’s partnership with the UN, aligning development cooperation with FSM’s national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

As we move with the finalized and endorsed CIP, let us reaffirm our commitment to inclusive dialogue, mutual accountability, and principled cooperation. I am confident that through this process, we will strengthen the impact of UN support, elevate FSM’s voice in regional and global forums, and chart a path forward that is both ambitious and achievable,” said Secretary Robert.

The CIP outlines priorities in four interlinked areas: building climate and disaster resilience under Planet; ensuring equal access to health, education, and social services under People; creating inclusive economic opportunities and supporting digital growth under Prosperity; and strengthening democratic institutions, legal identity systems, and the protection of human rights under Peace. It also reinforces FSM’s role in shaping regional responses to emerging challenges through diplomacy, governance, and inclusive development.

The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to coordinated implementation, accountability, and shared progress.
