
PALIKIR, Pohnpei – November 30, 2025 – The Office of the President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) extends its deepest condolences to the people and leadership of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) on the passing of the late Diego Roman Tenorio Benavente, former Lieutenant Governor of Saipan.
Representing His Excellency the President at the funeral service were Mr. Jack Harris, Special Assistant to the President, and Mr. Johnny Silbanuz, Acting FSM Consul General to Guam. Their attendance underscored the FSM’s profound respect for the former Lt. Governor’s longstanding service to the people of Saipan, as well as his contributions to the FSM community through his role as the Honorary Consul General of the FSM to the CNMI. His work strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the FSM and the CNMI, and his service will be remembered with deep appreciation.
The Government of the Federated States of Micronesia conveys its heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late Benavente, to the leadership of the CNMI, and to all who mourn his passing. His unwavering commitment to public service and to the wellbeing of his community leaves a lasting legacy of leadership and compassion.
