President Simina Administers Oath of Office to FSM Consul General Henry H. Shrew

HONOLULU, Hawai‘i – December 10, 2025 – His Excellency Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Henry H. Shrew, officially installing him as the new FSM Consul General to Hawai‘i. The appointment restores official leadership at one of FSM’s overseas missions, which had been without a formally appointed Consul General for several years. The FSM Consulate in Hawai‘i plays a vital role in supporting FSM citizens, strengthening community ties, and representing the nation’s interests across the State of Hawai‘i.

The ceremony opened with an invocation delivered by Reverend Elwel Taulung, offering a solemn and meaningful start to the proceedings.

Mr. Shrew has served in various capacities within FSM’s overseas missions, including leadership roles in the Honolulu and Portland consulate offices. Since 2020, he has been Acting Consul General in Hawai‘i, and his extensive experience reflects a strong commitment to supporting FSM citizens abroad and advancing the nation’s diplomatic presence in the Pacific.

In his remarks, President Simina extended his best wishes to Consul General Shrew and underscored the importance of strong leadership within the mission. He expressed confidence in Mr. Shrew’s ability to continue advancing the work of the Consulate and concluded with a toast in his honor.

Consul General Shrew offered brief remarks, expressing gratitude for the confidence placed in him and reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities of the office. He noted the importance of supporting FSM citizens in Hawai‘i and emphasized his readiness to continue serving the community and representing the nation.

Among those in attendance were the Honorable Carl Apis, Secretary of Transportation, Communications and Infrastructure (TC&I); the Honorable Johnson Asher and the Honorable Merlyn Abello-Alfonso, Members of the 24th FSM Congress; the Honorable Tulensa W. Palik, Governor of the State of Kosrae; staff from the FSM Consulate Office; as well as family members and friends who gathered to witness this occasion.

The Simina–Palik Administration extends its appreciation to the 24th Congress for its support in the confirmation process, acknowledging the role of continued collaboration in ensuring effective leadership across the nation’s diplomatic missions.
