First Lady Joins Chuuk in Celebrating International Women’s Day and Organizational Milestone

WENO, Chuuk — March 6, 2026 — The First Lady of the Federated States of Micronesia, Madam Ancelly Simina, joined women leaders and community members in Chuuk State to commemorate International Women’s Day.

This year’s celebration also marked the 16th anniversary of the establishment of the Chuuk Women’s Council, recognizing more than a decade of service dedicated to empowering women, supporting families, and preserving Chuukese culture and traditions.

In her remarks, the First Lady congratulated the organization on its milestone and commended its members for their continued commitment to uplifting women across Chuuk State. She encouraged the organization to continue the important work it carries out on behalf of communities, noting that women’s groups remain vital pillars of support, advocacy, and cultural stewardship.

Reflecting on the theme highlighted during the International Women’s Day celebration hosted earlier by the Pohnpei Women’s Council, “Give to Gain”, the First Lady emphasized that the principle resonates strongly within Chuukese customs and traditions. She noted that the act of giving, whether through service, leadership, mentorship, or community support, strengthens families and communities and ultimately contributes to a stronger nation.

The First Lady further underscored that the spirit of “Give to Gain” represents a “whole-of-society effort”, requiring unity and cooperation among men and women, boys and girls, government leaders, organizations, associations, and faith-based communities. Through collective effort, she noted, communities can continue advancing the well-being and empowerment of women across the Federated States of Micronesia.

The celebration served as an opportunity to recognize the contributions of women in Chuuk while reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthening families, communities, and future generations throughout the nation.
