PALIKIR, Pohnpei — July 3, 2026 — President Wesley W. Simina and Vice President Aren B. Palik joined U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Vincent Mut-Tracy, members of the diplomatic corps, government leaders, and distinguished guests at the United States Embassy to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Independence of the United States of America.
The reception commemorated a defining milestone in American history, honoring two and a half centuries of independence, democratic governance, innovation, and service to the enduring ideals of liberty and self-determination. On behalf of the Government and people of the Federated States of Micronesia, President Simina extended warm congratulations to the Government and people of the United States on this historic occasion.
President Simina reflected on the enduring relationship between the Federated States of Micronesia and the United States, recognizing the sacrifices and service of Micronesian veterans and active-duty service members in the United States Armed Forces. He noted that their service has helped safeguard the freedoms and shared values cherished by both nations.
“This day is not only a celebration of your independence, but a deeply felt reminder of the enduring friendship and partnership between the FSM and the United States. A bond shaped by the Compact of Free Association, by history, compassion, and shared hope,” President Simina said.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Vincent Mut-Tracy reflected on the significance of the United States’ Semiquincentennial, noting that the occasion celebrated not only America’s history but also the enduring partnership between the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia.
“As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we also celebrate the spirit of freedom, courage, and partnership that defines both of our nations. Together, we honor the past, embrace the present, and look forward to a future filled with opportunity and hope,” Chargé d’Affaires Mut-Tracy said.
As both nations look to the future, President Simina reaffirmed the Federated States of Micronesia’s commitment to building upon its longstanding partnership with the United States and advancing shared priorities that promote peace, security, resilience, and sustainable prosperity throughout the Pacific for generations to come.
As the United States celebrates 250 years of independence, the Federated States of Micronesia extends its best wishes to the Government and people of the United States of America and looks forward to many more years of friendship, cooperation, and shared prosperity.
