FSM joins the People’s Republic of China in Celebrating 74th Anniversary

Kolonia, Pohnpei, September 28th, 2023 – T.H. Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia and Second Lady recently attended the Commemoration of the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People\’s Republic of China which also served as the welcoming of H.E. Ambassador Wu Wei to the FSM, held at the Ninsei restaurant at Cliffe Rainbow Hotel. The festive event was also attended by T.H. Speaker Esmond Moses, T.H. Floor Leader Quincy Lawrence, T.H. Senator Peter Christian, T.H. Senator Isaac Figir, T.H. Senator Joseph Urusemal as well as members of the diplomatic corps, development partners and community members. Upon welcoming his guests, Ambassador Wei also welcomed strengthening opportunities for continued collaboration between the FSM and China.In his remarks, Vice President Palik highlighted the 34 years of FSM-China diplomatic relations, stating that “the history of our relationship has demonstrated many successful stories. The achievements or successful stories are not only reflected in the economic, technological, and cultural achievements but the overall economic and technical exchanges between our two peoples.” Vice President Palik further added “I strongly believe our two sides must jointly take the lead in carving out new ways and take unprecedented measures to explore and identify areas to facilitate and advance key areas of cooperation based on our mutual interests and values, not just at the national levels but also on the State and Municipality levels.”In line with the FSM’s commitment to the One China Policy, the Simina-Palik administration congratulates the People’s Republic of China for its achievements over the past 74 years of governance.
