On May 10, 1979 our FSM Constitution emerged out of a years long pursuit, changing the course of our trajectory and claiming our right to self-governance forever.
Today we honor the memory of our founding fathers upon whose shoulders we stand on, for without them, we wouldn’t be here today. Who looked at our expansive many islands across this great ocean, and didn’t see division, but saw unity. Who looked at the great uncharted waters of independence and did not see failure, but saw a future.
Today we live in that future they envisioned for us.
Our constitution has served as the bedrock of our democracy for decades and will continue to serve its great purpose, so long as we, as both its inheritor and custodian, have the same faith in our peace, unity and liberty as our forefathers did.
