MiCare Board Fully Constituted with the Swearing-In of the National Government and Pohnpei State Representatives

PALIKIR, Pohnpei — April 15, 2026 — His Excellency President Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), administered the Oath of Office to the newly nominated and confirmed members of the MiCare Board of Directors, Dr. Marcelle Gallen representing the State of Pohnpei and Dr. Mayleen Ekiek, representing the National Government.

Dr. Gallen and Dr. Ekiek formally took their oaths of office, affirming their commitment to uphold the Constitution and laws of the Federated States of Micronesia and to faithfully discharge their duties as members of the MiCare Board.

With their appointments, the MiCare Board is now complete, ensuring full and equitable representation from all four states and the National Government. Their inclusion will further strengthen the Board’s capacity to guide policy direction, enhance governance, and support ongoing efforts to improve the delivery, accessibility, and sustainability of health care services under MiCare.

During the ceremony, both Dr. Gallen and Dr. Ekiek delivered remarks expressing their commitment to serve with integrity and to contribute their professional expertise toward improving health outcomes for the people of the Federated States of Micronesia.

The Simina-Palik Administration extends its appreciation to the 24th FSM Congress for confirming the nominees and reaffirms the importance of continued cooperation among the branches of government in promoting good governance. The Administration also looks forward to the leadership and service of Dr. Gallen and Dr. Ekiek as they join their fellow members in strengthening the nation’s health system for the benefit of all citizens.
