
Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), received His Excellency Harsh Kumar Jain, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the FSM, during the Ambassador’s third official visit to the nation. Ambassador Jain was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Vandana Jain, and Mr. Sunny Kukreja, Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Manila.
During the meeting, President Simina and Ambassador Jain reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the FSM–India partnership. Discussions highlighted mutual areas of interest, including development cooperation, capacity-building opportunities, and support for ongoing national priorities.
Ambassador Jain’s visit highlighted the deepening cooperation between the FSM and the Republic of India, with engagements focused on health advancement, development partnerships, and strengthened diplomatic relations.
A key highlight of the visit was Ambassador Jain’s participation in the Signing Ceremony for the Tripartite Agreement on the project “Community Access to Resilient Essential Health in the Federated States of Micronesia (CARE FSM).” The agreement, signed by the Honorable Marcus Samo, Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Affairs, and Ms. Gulbahor Nematova, UNDP Country Manager and Deputy Representative, marks a significant milestone in advancing accessible and resilient health services across the FSM.
Prior to the ceremony, Ambassador Jain paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Ricky F. Cantero, Acting Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, where he conveyed the Government of India’s condolences on the passing of the late Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Lorin S. Robert. The meeting also touched on shared values and ongoing bilateral priorities.
During his stay, the Ambassador and his delegation were also hosted on a tour aboard the FSM Patrol Boat FSS Tosiwo Nakayama, accompanied by Secretary of Justice T.H. Leonito Bacalando Jr.
As part of his program, Ambassador Jain and his delegation will continue their engagements with a visit to the State of Chuuk where he will call pay a courtesy call on Governor Alexander R. Narruhn and meet with Chuuk State leadership to advance bilateral cooperation at the state level.
