
HARMON, Guam – April 21, 2026 — At the margins of the Joint Economic Management Committee (JEMCO) Mid-Year meeting in Guam, the Honorable Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia, administered the oath of office to Mrs. Teresa M. Filepin, who will serve as the National Government’s representative on the Committee.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Honorable Francis Itimai, Governor of Yap State; the Honorable Tulensa W. Palik, Governor of Kosrae State; Senator Johnson Asher of the 24th FSM Congress; members of JEMCO; and Mr. Johnny Silbanuz, Acting Consul General of the Federated States of Micronesia to Guam, along with staff.
Vice President Palik congratulated Mrs. Filepin on her appointment, acknowledging the FSM Congress for its continued support in confirming her nomination. He expressed confidence in her ability to contribute to the Committee’s work and wished JEMCO members well as they address key issues under the Compact of Free Association.
Mrs. Filepin conveyed her appreciation to President Simina and Vice President Palik for the opportunity to serve, noting her commitment to supporting the Committee’s mandate and expressing enthusiasm about joining the team.
Mrs. Filepin currently serves as Deputy Chief of Mission of the Federated States of Micronesia to the United States, a role she has held since 2023. She previously served as FSM Consul General to Guam from 2018 to 2023 and has worked with Micronesian Legal Services, alongside holding various leadership roles in education and public service in the Yap State Government.
The Joint Economic Management Committee plays a central role in overseeing the effective implementation of Compact resources and advancing the Federated States of Micronesia’s development priorities in partnership with the United States under the Compact of Free Association.
The Simina-Palik Administration extends its appreciation to the 24th FSM Congress for its continued support in the confirmation process and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening effective representation and advancing the nation’s priorities through JEMCO.
