
PALIKIR, Pohnpei – December 02, 2025 – The Office of the President proudly hosted its Second Annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony on the grounds of the President’s Office and National Convention Center, bringing together community members and national government employees for a festive evening of unity and celebration.
President Wesley W. Simina opened the event with welcoming remarks, expressing gratitude to attendees and emphasizing the spirit of togetherness that Christmas brings. In his speech, the President reflected on the meaning of the season, noting that “Christmas is a time that we all come together in unity… it is my hope that these lights remind us of the bright future we share when we come together as a nation.” He also acknowledged the resilience of the FSM throughout the year and highlighted the importance of carrying forward a sense of hope and gratitude.
Following the President’s remarks, guests joined in a lively countdown to the official lighting of the Christmas decorations. In a heartwarming moment, the honor of switching on the lights was given to the one of the First Granddaughters of the First Couple, who illuminated the grounds to the delight of families and children in attendance.
As the lights shone across the compound, First Lady Simina and Second Lady Palik shared holiday treats with the crowd, adding a personal and joyful touch to the celebration and creating a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
Vice President Aren B. Palik joined the President, the First Lady, and the Second Lady in embracing the holiday spirit, actively participating in the ceremony, engaging with families and the crowd, and sharing in the joy of the occasion.
The Office of the President extends its appreciation to all staff, national employees, and community members who helped make the event a success.
