
YAP, Federated States of Micronesia — March 2, 2026 — The Honorable Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), joined the people of Yap in celebrating the annual Yap Day festivities, honoring the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Yapese people.
Vice President Palik attended the celebration alongside traditional leaders, state officials, and community members. During the event, he expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him and shared that he was pleased to participate in the celebration, recognizing the important role Yap Day plays in preserving and promoting Yapese culture and traditions.
For the first time, Vice President Palik was invited to walk out the performers as part of the festivities—an honor that highlighted the close relationship between government and traditional leadership which reflects the spirit of unity between governance and culture that the Simina-Palik Administration continues to value and support.
The annual celebration brings together communities and visitors to witness traditional dances, cultural demonstrations, and the living traditions that continue to define and strengthen Yapese identity.
