PALIKIR, Pohnpei — July 22, 2026 — His Excellency Wesley, W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) officially opened the Kamorale Expo, marking the commencement of four days of cultural celebration, national exchange, and economic opportunity.
The event brings together communities from across the Federated States of Micronesia through vibrant cultural displays, traditional performances, local cuisine, and broad public participation.
Joining President Simina at the opening ceremony were the Honorable Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia; His Excellency Bishop Julio Angkel; Lieutenant Governor Mekioshy William of Chuuk State; Lieutenant Governor Arthy G. Nena of Kosrae State; Lieutenant Governor Herolyn S. Movick of Pohnpei State; and Mr. Martin Runiyol representing Yap State.
Esteemed traditional leaders, including the Wasahi of Sokehs Mr. Valentine Martin and the Isonahnken of Madolenihmw Mr. John Adolph, were also in attendance. The state representatives delivered remarks highlighting the importance of the Kamorale Expo in promoting culture, unity, tourism, and economic opportunity across the nation.
Held under the theme “Kamorale Soarentu FSM — Our Culture, Our Story: Thriving in the Digital Era,” the Expo brings together youth groups, local businesses, artisans, entrepreneurs, cultural practitioners, and international partners to celebrate the rich heritage and enduring spirit of the Federated States of Micronesia.
In his opening remarks, the President described the Expo as a proud expression of the nation’s identity and an important platform for tourism, trade, innovation, and sustainable development.
“The Kamorale Expo is both a celebration of our identity and a platform for collaboration, stewardship, and resilience. It strengthens tourism and trade, empowers small enterprises, and connects our communities to national growth,” the President said.
This year’s Expo places particular emphasis on the nation’s youth, whose creativity, leadership, and confidence continue to shape Micronesia’s future. Through art, music, technology, digital platforms, and climate advocacy, young people are carrying the nation’s traditions forward while embracing new opportunities in the digital era.
The participation of the international community further adds to the spirit of the Expo and strengthens partnerships in culture, tourism, commerce, and sustainable development.
Throughout the four-day event, visitors will experience live entertainment, cultural dances, traditional attire, culinary demonstrations, local food, youth talent showcases, and exhibits representing the four states and international participants. The Expo will also serve as a marketplace where small and medium-sized enterprises can showcase, promote, and sell their products and services.
Calling on all participants to embrace the spirit of Kamorale, “One Destination, Four Unique Experiences,” the President said the Expo proudly presents to the world what the FSM holds most dear: its culture, resilience, environment, youth, and people.
“May this Expo inspire us to thrive together, honoring our culture while soaring into the digital era, and building a sustainable future for generations to come,” the President said.
